Team Work Makes the Dream Work!

One of my absolute joys of parish ministry is serving on a dedicated and talented staff team. This is not work that should be done in isolation, and how we feel about the work is as important as the work itself.

As a social worker, I managed a direct team of 5-6 managers and indirectly managed around 40 employees at any given time. I learned invaluable skills that I carried with me into ministry.

Nurturing and cultivating Religious Professionals is a priority.

I have strong working relationships with my co-workers, direct reports, and colleagues. We have fun, work hard, and find ways to make meaning in what we do. There's a reason why anyone decides to serve a faith community, and those skills and gifts should have space to thrive.

Community Building

Sunday Morning is only one way that we find connection in congregational life, and who says we can't have fun while we make meaning and do the work of the community? Building relationships and finding a sense of belonging are two of the major reasons why folks seek out faith community in the first place.

An important aspect of ministry is to cultivate this sense of belonging, and to show up!

Through the Lifespan

Learning and growing never stops, and our communities are enriched because of it. Honoring life stages and lifelong engagement are crucial as we face aging and active populations as we make space for the emerging age groups. There's something beautiful about holding a baby in one moment, and celebrating an 80th birthday in the next. It's unique in this modern age, and something easily encountered in community.
